The Byzantine Castle of Skyros was built during the Byzantine Times to protect the island from enemies and pirates that were frequently devastating the Aegean islands. Build on the highest point of Skyros town and overlooking the whole area. Inside the Castle, there is the church of the glorious Monastery of Agios Georgios (Saint George) The castle and Monastery are currently undergoing a major renovation.
